Our great European rally is now 19 years old:
It takes a while to turn a good European rally into a great European rally. The Motoscape Banger Rally is a road trip around Europe which has been running since 2006. Every year the participants have had an incredible time. We want each participant to have an incredible time, and see that a week’s holiday doesn’t have to include lying on a sunbed in The Med! It can be active, exciting and totally different!
The banger rally concept is becoming ever more popular these days. Unlike other banger rallies, we don’t believe in driving, driving and then more driving before arriving at your destination, going to bed and then getting up for the next day of even more driving. Our routes take approx 5-6 hours driving per day (some days even less), leaving you time to see some of the great places we take you to and allowing you time to visit places we have highlighted en-route.
The concept of the Motoscape Banger Rally is to buy a car for £999 or less, turn it into a wacky eye-catching, masterpiece and drive it along some of the greatest roads in Europe.
Not everyone is comfortable with driving a banger abroad so for 2025 you can bring along the car of your choice regardless of age and condition.
It’s not just a driving holiday though, it’s a fantastic driving experience and a great European rally. You’ll get the chance to meet lots of new people, raise some money for charity and experience a road trip around Europe like no other!
The Motoscape Banger Rally is open to all ages, male or female, all you need is:
- A banger of DISTINCTION (costing less than £999 or a classic car around 20 years old!) or
- Any car regardless of age and condition
- A current UK driving license (you must be 18 years old to drive in Europe)
- A few shillings for a beer or two along the way
- A sense of humour
- A compass, map and / or a sat nav with eastern Europe downloaded
- A sense of adventure
- A willingness to “DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT THIS YEAR”
- A co-pilot or two (male or female), or just come on your own
- A passport

Entrance Fees:
£295 for a team of 2 people, + £84 extra for each additional person.
Deposit:
Places are strictly limited and are offered on a first come first served basis. A deposit of £295 confirms your place on the rally.
Your entrance fee includes:

- A pair of Motoscape Rally stickers for your choice of ride
- Fantastic tips and guidance on everything from motoring laws in each country to the best places to visit en-route
- Added to Private Facebook Group with other participants

The Prizes:
If you want to win one of the main cash prizes you will have to accumulate sufficient points whilst completing the daily challenges. The challenges are only open to those driving a banger, or car around twenty years old. Those driving anything else can just come along for the laugh and the fantastic camaraderie. If you have climbed to the top of the leader board by the end of the rally then you’ve bagged first prize. Don’t forget, there is a prize of £100 for the best fancy dress, plus you can get a £150 prize for snagging the best car design.

Motoscape Accommodation:
Once you’ve bought your car, carried out any repairs needed and then come up with a fantabulous design for it, the last thing you want to worry about is booking a different hotel for every night of the trip! You don’t need to worry! Unlike most other banger rallies, we can book all your accommodation for you. We negotiate excellent rates, in accommodation with an average rating of 3* – 4*. This means that your great European rally runs smoothly and gives you far more time to socialise with the other teams taking part.

Both routes – approx £75 – £90 per person per night. The price shown is per person on a bed and breakfast basis and will include a group meal.
Upon registering your deposit of £295 will secure your place on the rally plus accommodation.
IMPORTANT…
PLEASE READ IF YOU HAVE ENTERED OUR BANGER RALLY AS A TEAM OF 3 ENTRANTS:
In most European countries a 3 person room compromises of a single bed (sometimes in the form of a guest or a foldout bed) and a large double bed with either a one piece or 2 piece mattress that can be separated in some instances (BUT NOT ALL). On the first night a triple rooms means a large double bed with a single bunk above. Teams not comfortable with this bed configuration can pay a single person supplement of approximately £95 – £115 per night, which will enable one member of the teams to have a single room and the remainder to have a standard double / twin. Only a very small number of single rooms are available at each hotel.
Who can take part in a banger rally:
Anyone can take part in a banger rally, male or female and of any age age (you must be 18 years old and have a current driving license if you are planning on driving). In the past our youngest competitor has been just 7 years old and the oldest, well in 2019 we had an 80 year old. One year we even had three generations all taking part in the same car.
Make it a charity car rally:
We try and encourage teams taking part to do it for charity. It can be any charity you choose, whether it is a local charity close to your heart or one of the main UK charities that everyone has heard of. You can build up sponsorship and even donate any prize money won, to your chosen charity!
