Motoscape 2013: Day 7, Sopron to Prague

After what can only be described as an extraordinary week, the last day of the 2013 Motoscape Rally had arrived, and it was time for the teams to head to Prague! First of all though, teams had to get up bright and early for the final morning briefing and collect the daily packs (the last time teams heard the famous words, “Please Read Your Pack!”). As this was the last day of the rally, there were no challenges other than make it to Prague in one piece, which is easier said than done on some of the roads in the Czech Republic!

The journey from Sopron to Prague in the Czech Republic is around 245 miles, and most teams took the direct route straight to the hotel so they could spend the afternoon in Prague before the evening’s events.

For the teams that wanted to visit somewhere different on the way, there was the opportunity to take a small detour and cross over the border, back into Austria, to experience the 315 sq km Lake Neusiedl. It’s one of the most popular holiday destinations in Austria and also a UNESCO world heritage sight. The lake is surrounded by a reed belt, which gives shelter to a unique variety of birds, a truly tranquil spot for teams to enjoy on the last day of the rally.

There was also chance to visit another country on our European road trip by nipping into Slovakia! After that it was back to the drive from Hungary to the Czech Republic, which was a vast change in scenery compared with the beautiful mountain passes that we had previously driven through, into the rural landscape of the Czech Republic, which is completely different to the other countries we have visited on the rally.

As it was a less eventful day on the roads (with zero banger casualties or breakdowns), it was on to the evening’s events! It was time to wrap up what has been a fantastic trip and the teams attended the celebratory meal and presentation, followed by a night out in the world famous city of Prague, what more could you ask for!

The teams got to the hotel in Prague in plenty of time to check out the hotels facilities and get ready for the night ahead.

The Motoscape Team put on the finale meal and presentation in the hotel restaurant where all the Motoscapers got together one last time, had a few beers and found out the overall winners of this years rally before heading for a night out in the beautiful city of Prague.

We can now reveal the winners of yesterdays daily prize were Dr Rally Team, but this wasn’t enough to win the lads first place on the 2013 Prague Rally. Instead they had to settle for second place, meaning the winner of this years Prague Rally was A Bear Attacking You With Only A Sausage Is Still Terrifying! Congratulations to the father and son team, Martyn and Tony who really thought outside the box on the challenges, and certainly gave us one of the most memorable Motoscape team names we have ever had!

After the Motoscape champions had their photos taken, we gave teams a “once in a lifetime chance” to have their photo’s taken with the coveted Motoscape trophy! The most sought after trophy other than the champion’s league cup, even the waitresses wanted their pictures taken with it!

After the celebrations the teams hit the city to celebrate the end of an amazing experience, and one that many of the teams said they would love to do again next year.

Prague has something for everyone, whether you want to have a relaxing coffee in the old town, or you want to finish the rally with a big blow out at the cities best night clubs, you really can’t find a better place to end our European Road Trip!

A few final words from us…

This year’s rally has been an amazing adventure and from reading all your comments we can safely say this has been our best year ever! We have seen some of the best banger designs of all time, and the teams have been a pleasure to spend time with. We want to keep improving the rally every year so thanks to all the teams for their feedback, everything will be considered and we appreciate you taking the time to help us make it even better for next year.
