Best roads in Europe

Ever since the Top Gear episode where three rather funny middle-aged men drove three supercars over the Stelvio Pass in Italy and described it as the ‘world’s best driving road’, this alpine pass has been on many people’s bucket list of things to do. So is it really the ‘best road in the world’ for driving?

You may have booked on our banger rally for 2016 or may be taking part in one of the other European car rallies out there. You could even be planning your own independent road trip around Europe and fancy taking in some of the best driving roads there are on offer. You want to know whether to do the Stelvio Pass or not. Well here are our thoughts on the Stelvio Pass and two other passes that we recommend!

Motoscape Banger Rally – 10 years of organising banger rallies.

Cheap Gumball rally

Who hasn’t heard of the Gumball rally and who wouldn’t want to drive a supercar through Europe. The trouble is you have to be genuinely rich to take part, so what’s the next best thing, a European rally where you end up driving some cheap cars instead. Just as much fun and definitely more of a challenge!

Motoscape banger rally is now 10 years old

It doesn’t seem like 10 years ago since we started out on our first banger rally, but ever since that very first rally, we are always asked the same question. ‘What made you start organising banger rallies’? The simple answer is this; ‘we went on one’. We had a fantastic time, met some great people and experienced fantastic camaraderie. The event itself however, was poorly organised. So with this in mind we thought, why don’t we organise a road trip around Europe ourselves. Ten years later and we’re still going strong.

An experience to talk about

Author: Alice Westwood Alice Westwood talks about a banger rally

The Motoscape Banger Rally immediately stood out as a driving experience from London to Venice in just 5 days so we signed up with the aim of raising money for Cancer Research UK as well as experiencing the trip along with 48 other teams…

Remember Remember the wine and beer festival Germany

Tomorrow is bonfire night, the annual event that is marked to celebrate the failure of Guy Fawkes to blow up the houses of parliament in 1605. So why is the Motoscape banger car rally talking about bonfire night? Well what do we associate most with bonfire night? Bonfires of course, toffee apples, parkin, lots of happy smiling faces but most of all, fireworks! ?

Back to the future versus the Tank

Back to the future meets Motoscape Banger Rally

It’s just been ‘Back to the future day’ and this took us back in time to our 2013 Motoscape banger rally. There were some outstanding decorated bangers this year, including the Delorean lookalike VW Scirocco, of Jon and Laura. With an appropriate team name of ‘Banger to the future’, Jon and Laura had spent many hours replicating the look of the Delorean supercar. Complete with a flux capacitor and lots of other minor details, it helped to gain them the coveted title of ‘Banger of the year 2013’, jointly with another decorated masterpiece.

2015 Day 7: Salzburg to Prague

Alas the final day is upon us! For many it has been a European road trip to remember, but over all too soon. The last leg saw us travelling the relatively short distance from Salzburg to Prague, ‘the city of a hundred spires’. The beautifully preserved heart of the city is a masterpiece in architecture. No wonder it is one of the most visited cities in Europe.
